Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award

I'm quite pleased to announce that I have received my second Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award for Fiction! I'm so proud of my state and all they do for the arts!

In honor of this award, I am going to post pieces from my novel The Noon Siren, which I have been working on for a very long time.  It's about a small town in upstate New York and the lives of seven characters brought together by a series of strange events, including the discovery of a skull in a wondrous enormous house on a hill, told from the voice of the town, my humble attempt to write in the vein of Richard Russo and Brian Doyle, because I love their work.

This is the strange and beautiful house where Stella and Lee find the skull.  A photo I took a long time ago  . . .
