I play with words and images. I've always considered it play, even when I'm dead serious about what I'm trying to say or show. I love the process, and sometimes the process is just about seeing what might happen if . . . So these days I'm playing with photos, how two images can create something new. Sometimes I find images that play well together, like the one above. Seals on the beach in California and dead trees on a blue day in Chautauqua, New York. I would never have found this image if I didn't play, always trying something new, allowing myself the time to make mistakes.
An aside: My father, Kirk Willis, was an actor and director. The word play has been part of my life since my earliest memories.
